To wash dishes like a Créole wife or Créole housekeeper, you will need a pair of rubber or latex gloves, a loofah and household soap. *Please note that us Créoles clean glasses differently. I will write another blog post about how to clean glasses.

If you have a single sink, fill the sink 1/3 full with water. As you wash dishes and rinse before the water level of the sink reach half way full release the water out of the sink and refill the sink 1/3 full. Repeat when necessary. Take the dirty dish to the sink, that is empty. If you have a double sink fill up one sink 1/3 full with water. Wet a loofah with water and rub with household soap until the loofah is soapy. Household soap tend to be hard soap and might be rough.

Lower one dish into the water and lift dish out of the water. Scrub the dish with the soapy loofah until all the food and dirt is gone. Place back the dish into the water and with your hand pour water from the sink on the dish to remove the soap and dirt several times. Rinse the dish under the faucet. Repeat until the dish is clean. Continue until all the dishes are clean. Dry your dishes with a soft flannel cloth.
